Earth Day
We celebrated Earth Day today in Kindergarten! We read Earth Day books, watched a short video on the history of Earth Day, learned the terms "reduce, reuse, and recyle" and sorted items into the three groups, did a Scholastic News, and a fun art/music project to end the day.
We listened to the song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and the kids got to use their watercolors to paint what the song made them think of. These have been mounted on black paper and are beautifully hanging in our classroom!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
We have been busy, busy this week learning about one of our country's leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We read many books, did a web describing Dr. King, talked about our own dreams, and watched a clip of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech. Below is a short video from youtube that teaches kids about Dr. King with cartoons (just click the play button). The picture above was a directed drawing activity of Dr. King- we have gotten more compliments about how great they turned out and how artistic our class is! Definitely check them out if you are in the building.
Happy Dr. MLK Day!
